Discount Living Outside Of NYC

Posted on

Living in New York City can be cost prohibitive. It is one of the state's most expensive places to live. However, there are so many job opportunities that you might need to find a way to live without spending a ton of money. This can frighten so many people because when one looks at the ads for homes for sale, the prices are sky-high. This is especially true if you're looking at Manhattan. However, there are some alternatives you can look into.

Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island or Queens

Manhattan is going to be really expensive. But if you expand your search to the outer boroughs, then you will have a better shot at finding an affordable place. Many of the people who work in Manhattan choose to live in one of the outer boroughs because it is so much more affordable. You will be able to find not only affordable apartments, but also more space. There are even single family houses that you could find for rent in some of the less densely populated areas. The great thing about New York City is that the subway system is so easy to use and it will allow you to get anywhere with ease.

Studio Options In Manhattan

If you do want to live in Manhattan, then you should most definitely look into a studio apartment. These are the smallest places you can find, and they are also the most affordable. You can find a studio in an area such as the Upper East Side and you will definitely find some smaller apartments that are within your price range. The main thing to remember is to look for studios that are advertised as no fee so that you don't get locked into an expensive arrangement.

Mobile Homes Outside The City

If you are on a real budget, and don't mind a commute, then you can look for a new mobile home for sale outside of the city. You will find these in both New Jersey as well as north of the city in New York. There are plenty of nice towns in Orange County New (you can commute from Orange County by train and arrive right in Penn Station) or parts of New Jersey. The cool thing about choosing a mobile home is that you won't have to pay an exorbitant rent and these homes tend to be in smaller towns with bucolic atmospheres, which is always a relaxing joy from the city.
